Cable Bay walkway 11 March |

The new meeting place is Wakapuwaka tennis car park, we are early, no sun here yet so decide to park up over the hill at the cable/bay turn off in the sun,[for a cupper with her-indoors] hence the reason for not being at the right meeting place [writing trip report]
Joined parsing convoy of 18 -19 trucks and proceeded out to the happy-valley car park a quick reassemble and away, we pass through the old club training ground then wind our way up to the sky-wire platform.
Someone said it cost a million to setup, it consists of a 4seat ski-lift type chair attached to a cable slung about 1k across the valley. a dozen or so brave souls with thick wallets had a go. I noted a few mitzy and old jeep owners lined up for a thrill. I suppose its the only way for them to experience speeds over 80k an hour
We carried on north with some great views of cable-bay and surrounding areas then dropped down to the bay-road from cable-bay headed west across a farm and started winding our way up the Glen-Cable Bay walkway.
Stopped for lunch, looking down on the sea below it seemed flat calm right across to Golden Bay, lots of fiz boats out enjoying the conditions.
After lunch headed into some bush, the shade most welcome, out into the open again and views along the boulder-bank, through Richmond and beyond. finally at the glen we hit tar seal off with the aircon and down with windows.
Thanks for a nice day out Sav I even stopped at the smugglers cafe and bought her-indoors a
cappuccino on the way home [her money of course] must be worth a few brownie points.
