CLARK FUN DAY. SUNDAY 7th NOV.
Trip report from Tracy
Sav and I trundled out to Dovedale for the beginning of what was to be
a scorcher of a day weather-wise. I had a feeling we’d get a good
turnout, but we didn’t expect the thirty that did turn up! After
sign-in and the usual chat from Sav, we all took off to the first four
hazards of the day.
There was a bit of waiting to get a turn, but the morning round went
pretty smoothly with the hazards not proving to be too much of a
challenge to man (woman) or machine. (Still don’t know where the bent
front guard came from…). After lunch we went off to the next round
which comprised of slightly more technical stuff to make you think a
bit, and with some good traffic directing from Scotty, the competitors
all got round with spare time to have a go at the optional hill climb
or play in the boggy bits again. The ‘grin factor’ was pretty evident
in some of the younger club competitors, and it was good to see them
having such fun (and win the day as well!!).
Once again, thanks to the generosity of the land owner, we had a great
venue to use and no broken water pipes this year – I think!
A BIG Thank you to our friendly farmer for the use of the property, Sav,
Brownie, Scotty and marshals for their time and effort in setting up
and running the day, and everyone for turning up. It has brought home
the thought that we could do with a slightly more serious ‘trial day’
in the near future to cater for the number of play trucks that came out
on Sunday.
We’ll keep you posted on that one.
