Trip report ‘A’ Team
Cold but not raining, we set off with Mike leading the way. The first casualty was Lee in his Hi-lux: broken steering arm, while trying to jump over a fallen tree, Craig came to the rescue with a spare.
Pat Pretty was the next casualty and "Happy Birthday Pat" went off line and ended up against a tree and put a small dent in his door. Sav followed and ended up against the same tree with a bigger dent, so the tree was cut down so he could continue.

Some sections we were unable to use the "A" line as it was just too tough, So, being the leader, Mike was the first on the rope, Guy tried the same hill, also needed the rope, Pat decieded on the "B" line but Sav showed us how it was done.
Scotty and Mark Colman and Denis arrived at about 10.30, so the "A" team grows, and everywhere you look there was Craig with his video camera.
Sadly, Jeff, who had come all the way from Westport in his Rainforest Challenge truck, finished up the day with a broken diff.

One hill down below the farm house challenged a few: Mike had his three goes and gave it away, Scotty gave up trying, Pat almost, BUT, Guy in his SWB Toyota shows how it was done on his second go, Thomas almost, again Sav no problems, Mark, I think he tried to bounce his way up, Craig tried only to break a CV or diff or both but Lee in his Hi-lux up first try, a challenging hill!!!
We continued on up some great tracks and it was great to see Denis in his buggy and he showed just how easy it was. Moving up the creek to a new section, on the turn around, Sav showed how to balance a 4WD without going over; great bit of driving. Going back down the creek (for me anyway) it was possibly the most interesting part of the day: superb track and sadly for the birthday boy he broke his first CV in all his years of 4WDing, so we had to make our way back to the workshop and change Pat’s CV.
Toyotas led the way with breakages: all the Hi-luxes broke down in some way.

Mike let the Nissans down, breaking a free wheeling hub.
I think we can add Pat to the Toyota list as he has hi-lux diffs
In all a great day, very well run and well set out tracks.
Thanks Mike & Sherryl
