TRIP REPORT: Lamb Valley
Date: 14/12/2008
Trip Leader: Andrew ‘Sav’ Satherley
Trip Report: Al ‘Lurch’ Giddens
So as by the unwritten rules, Nigel and I were nominated to undertake the trip report for the Lamb Valley day out, for being the first ones stuck (in the same hole we had just towed Sav out of?).
After a frantic phone call from Nigel about some "starting issues" we were off to round up some home baking from Couplands then away up the road. We tried to decide how long it had been for each of us since going on a club trip? Ages.
Lamb Valley turn off saw us third to arrive (not last, trip report, Sav?), and soon the area was swarming with eager, mud hungry hoons.
After a very lengthy briefing, all of about twenty words from the trip leader, we set off up the farm track and meandered around on some grassy paddocks for a while until a small damp patch, like a magnet drew all of us in for a blast, some more successful than others, also some of us more dramatic than others. Once all the recovery practice was over, there was a bit more paddock cruising to be had.
We all made our way up a steep hill climb and around a washout to a snug little hill top for lunch and a good old yarn, mostly consisting of everyone asking Chris, one by one… " is the Rangie going yet? ", apparently not.
After lunch we made our way further up the farm, to an area that Scotty, James and Rowan found far too tempting. Which had the rest of the group entertained watching their varying styles and successes.
With a quick stop at " the batch " for afternoon tea, we tackled another track which must have been missed during the working bee. But with a good keen team, the way was soon clear enough to get a Rangi Rover up there, (well maybe next time).
This saw us back on the track and out to the gate.
Once again a good day out enjoyed by all who attended, especially Harald, he didn’t break anything.
