Trip Leaders: Leo Van Workum / Lloyd Knowles
Trip Report: David Dobbie
I arrived at the clock tower early so I wouldn’t have
to write the trip report. It was good to have a trip start close to home.
Everyone was standing round kicking tyres and telling stories. Leo sorted the
money and spark arresters, it was noted in his welcome that Lex and Harald were
traveling in a Toyota.
18 vehicles headed up the Mot Valley where we met up
with Lloyd at Rocky River. While we were airing down our tyres Harald dished out
our new membership stickers and then we were away. After the first steep bit we
stopped to watch the following vehicles. I stopped off the track in a bit of mud
and couldn’t get going so had to get the first tow and the trip report.
We continued on up with some slippery and steep bits
after the previous weeks rain.
After a play in this area we had lunch in a valley out of the
cold southerly, and then we had a drive on to high ground almost into the snow.
On the way I saw some interesting three wheel parking, must have been a bit
exciting because everyone jumped out to watch and take photos. After a good look
around we headed down some interesting firebreaks. We all did a bit better on
the downhill stuff.
We reached the Big Pokororo River around 3pm where some of us
decided to call it a day while Leo and Lloyd lead the rest back to Rocky River.
Thanks to Lloyd and Leo for a good day out.
