Murray Martin’s Mt Murchison Trip
13 March - Mark Newport reports
Sunday morning running a little late we arrived at the meeting place last just after 10am.
About fifteen vehicles met at the Kawatiri Junction on a sunny but cold Sunday morning.
After a briefing for the day’s trip we set off towards Murchison
turning off on the road to Mt Murchison. The hills had cloud
cover but on the way up the fairly steep track to the top we went
through the cloud and mist to a beautiful sunny day. The view
from the top towards Nelson was good but with a blanket of cloud below
us like a blanket of snow.
After a stop for a cuppa it was time to head back down to the bottom
where we had lunch and then on to Lake Rotoroa and up the Porika
Track. It was a little rocky for the work truck!! On the
other side some vehicles went on the side tracks for a play in the ruts
and mud with the rest of us watching them playing from the main track.
Then we continued down to the Howard Valley and on to home, a good day out for the shiney trucks.
Thanks Murray
