| We are gathered here today | 15 members assembled at Kernohan Engineering to absorb an awful lot of information very capably presented by Ray and Brent. Videos showing us the right and the WRONG way of driving a 4WD vehicle were shown - scary. Get to know your vehicle – don’t you need a mechanic for all that? – Or is that a very feminine viewpoint. I’m sure I did absorb a great deal never the less. A variety of different 4WD’s were parked outside – from the very new to the slightly older vintage – all worthy of comparison and comment. We were very impressed with Ray’s very safely organised and equipped Land Rover After lunch we proceeded to Sharland’s Road where we could put all we had learned into practise. “Feel the fear and do it anyway”. With a very patient co-driver all those fears were conquered and the impossible achieved. Deliberately stalling a vehicle on a steep slope!!! A seat belt that threatened to stop you breathing, white knuckles and a thumping heart – still smiles at the end. Turning on a sixpence at the top (maybe a little bigger) and then expected to find the road down when you can’t see it – challenging. Those who helped us through must be very highly commended. Compared to the hills the river crossings were much easier. Actually it was a great day and we will happily return in an endeavour to become more competent. Robyn and Kathy – “Blonde Wheel Driving.”
